Waking up as a Woman

If I were to wake up as a woman, my first thought would be where did my male anatomy go? It would be pretty shocking to find a vagina there instead. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with having a vagina, I just don't think I would personally want one. I would probably be super emotional about being a woman and probably cry uncontrollably about it. My upper body strength would probably be a fourth of what it is being a guy, and that would upset me even more. I would more than likely be ugly without makeup and that would be another challenge since I don't know anything about makeup. If I was a girl, I'd like to imagine myself having a big rear end that everyone liked to stare at. All in all, If I woke up and was a girl, I would be sad about it, but in due time I would master it and probably be the alpha female of the town. Image result for girl

College

Image result for college stressI feel like one of the biggest changes in my life and most everyone's life is the switch from high school to college. In high school I could pretty much just bull crap everything I did and still come out with a pretty good grade. I've found that in college I have to study constantly to achieve a grade that I would like to have. In high school I didn't have a job, but now being in college and having a job is very stressful and tiring. I had a pretty nice social life in high school but as soon as everyone left for college I pretty much just keep to myself all the time. Basically, high school was pretty easy and carefree, and college is hard and stressful. So please Professor Hamon, give me an A.

American Tragedy

I believe that as a nation one of if not the biggest tragedy that we've experienced was the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. This was a dark day for the United States and a dark day for humanity. The unspeakable evil that the terrorists brought with them from their upside down jihadist views took the lives of almost 3,000 people. Many people left their houses that morning, going into work not knowing that that day would be their last. Family members had no clue that they would forever lose their loved ones. The damage inflicted on that day launched us into a long fought war where even more lives were lost for no reason as that of trying to destroy the jihadist terrorists so they could never cause any type of harm to anyone else ever again. One of the only bright sides of the situation was that it brought our country together, even if only for a short time.

My Family's Tragedy

My life has been filled with "almost tragedy" even though that sounds kinda weird. My mom had a brain aneurysm when I was 7 but survived, and then developed uterine cancer when I was 14 but survived that also. It wasn't until recently that  my life was filled with true tragedy. I already made a blog about her being my hero but recently my cousin Mary Elizabeth died at the age of 12 from leukemia. This tragedy completely changed my family and we will probably never be the same again. My grandmother is currently fighting lymphoma and my great-uncle is fighting cancer behind his eye. I guess you could say that cancer is the tragedy of my life and my family.

What the Creation Story Projects Taught Me

Over the course of the World Lit course so far, our groups have been making creation stories. This has been a very fun and interesting project that has given me great insight into everything that a creation story can be. A creation story can be told through several mediums (as demonstrated in class), such as a rap, a power point presentation, a cartoon animation, and many more. I believe giving the presentation through these different mediums helps to keep the listeners attention. I've learned that a creation story can be literally anything about something coming anew. One group took a different approach and made a story about homeless people starting anew in their own houses which was an interesting idea. My group added humor to our story, which I like to think that people enjoyed. I very much enjoyed this project and hope that we have more like it in the foreseeable future.

Qualities of a Hero

People in ancient times had lots of ideas of what made a hero a hero. Qualities such as being a demi-god with certain super powers, going out on a dangerous adventure with lots of foes to battle, or having an ultimate boss to battle towards the climax of the story are just a few of these qualities. However, I believe that in today's society being a hero doesn't mean that you have to be a "demi-god", or have a sword that strikes down people with lightning. In my opinion, to be a hero in today's society you have to wield a totally different type of characteristics.
  • First off you have to be kind and treat everyone with compassion. Always go out of your way to do something nice for others even when it might be a pain in the butt to do so.
  • Second, you have to be loyal and trustworthy. No one is going to want someone to be their hero if they can't trust them with the smallest things, let alone their life.
  • Third, a hero should be confident but humble in his abilities. Although some people might like douche bag major league baseball stars to be their heroes, I prefer someone who likes to be modest and not draw attention to himself.
  • Fourth, a hero should be courageous and not be afraid to lay down his or her life for their friends or family.
  • Lastly, a hero should be someone that can be looked up to all the time, whether it be in times of prosperity or times of trouble. Hero's need to give people a sense of hope that they will be there for them when the time comes to do so.
So although my list of heroic characteristics is mostly intangible traits that don't relate to having big muscles or being a good warrior and fighter, I believe that to be a hero in today's society you have to possess some if not all of these traits.

Other Group's Cration Story

The creation story that my group viewed this week was good, but didn't necessarily have the traditional elements of a regular creation story. It was more of a regular story. The slideshow that they created was very nice and had lots of cool graphics but was very lengthy. I'm not sure that they would be able to share it in class without taking up at least 45 minutes. With that being said, it's still a very cool and creative story. It's good for us to view and discuss our ideas with our peers to get full insight into everyone's imagination and to help us make a better well-rounded creation story.

My Hero Mary Elizabeth

This past week has been considerably difficult in that my hero actually passed on. She is my cousin Mary Elizabeth. She was 12 years old at the time of her death and she passed away from AML Leukemia. Before Mary Elizabeth was diagnosed, she was full of life and loved to spend her time doing nice things for others and wanting to help out those who were less fortunate than her. For her 10th birthday Mary asked for donations that she could give to the Methodist House in Macon and raised over 300 items! When Mary was diagnosed she still continued to think of others before herself and gave all the gifts that she received to her little brother and sister and the rest she gave to the other cancer patients. She was so steadfast in her faith and she never gave up her fight. She fought right up until the very end. There is so much more I could say about Mary that words on a blog post just wouldn't suffice. She lived her life the way we all are supposed to, serving others and having strong devoted faith in the Lord. Mary Elizabeth will always be my hero.

My Erotic Experience

So last Sunday night my family and I went to Atlanta to see Alice Cooper and Motley Crue play at Phillips Arena. I thought it would be fitting to relate this experience back to eroticism since we've been covering it in class. I'll start with Alice Cooper.

There are no words to describe Alice Cooper except freaky and awesome at the same time. I considered his dancing around and some of the gestures he was making to be extremely erotic. There was also a point in his show where a sexy dead nurse came out and put him in a straight jacket while she licked his face. If that doesn't evoke some sort of erotic feeling out of a crowd of 80's hair metal bangers then I don't know what would. There also was a very attractive guitar player who happened to be of the female gender wearing stockings and shredding her guitar. I don't know about most other people but i find that to be extremely erotic.

Then Motley Crue came on. I've never seen Motley Crue before that night but the one thing I learned about them was that they love to use the F word. Whether they use it casually saying that they love all the mother f***ers in the audience, to talking about when they used to "f***" chicks back in the day, they just loved to use it. Although weird, I feel like some of the people around me found the F word highly erotic when used by Vince Neil. Maybe they envisioned themselves with him...I don't know. And of course there were the girls dancing up on stage which is a custom of the 80's hair bands. And then there was the pentagram symbol that kept popping up over and over again. I feel like some symbols can evoke some erotic pleasure out of certain people, whether it being the pentagram (although highly weird and satanic), certain fruits (you know I'm talking about), or electric chairs (sometimes people find pain erotic). All in all it was a good show with great music and lots of weird and obscene forms of eroticism.

Eroticism in Today's Society

Legs
We've been talking about eroticism very extensively throughout the week. Most people gave the same definition in class that I'm about to give right now on what I believe the word Erotic means. I believe eroticism is all the combined sexual desires, impulses, feelings, and or manifestations/ arousal that someone shares with or towards another person. The feeling of sexual passion or sexual tension for someone else for lack of a better definition. This does not mean sex itself, but the feeling that makes you want to have sex. I believe this is a very important human trait because life is based around sex, and many view sex as the drive for continuity of human life.Eroticism is not pornography, however, for pornography is performing a sexual act while an onlooker watches. Porn destroys the feeling of eroticism. Eroticism differs in many different cultures, and may look and feel different from the point of view of a person of Asian ethnicity or a person of Indian ethnicity. In the 1950's American society, eroticism was very non prevalent as it was a more conservative time where sexual passion and desires were kept in the bedroom and were for married couples only (which was a customary more of the time period). However, as the American society turns more and more liberal, eroticism seems to be a big part of what our culture is based around now. Numerous parts of our everyday lives include eroticism including television, literature, video games, commercials, movies, and music. I believe the reason that eroticism is becoming more prevalent is because of young Americans always looking for pleasure whether it being they are addicted to it, or they have been exposed to it so much that they have lost their sense of balance between how much eroticism they should allow into their lives. I'm not saying that eroticism is a bad thing, it is just my opinion that it should be shared between two people (preferably a man and wife) rather than being shoved down your throat every time you turn on the television or pass a billboard on the interstate.
