American Tragedy
I believe that as a nation one of if not the biggest tragedy that we've experienced was the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. This was a dark day for the United States and a dark day for humanity. The unspeakable evil that the terrorists brought with them from their upside down jihadist views took the lives of almost 3,000 people. Many people left their houses that morning, going into work not knowing that that day would be their last. Family members had no clue that they would forever lose their loved ones. The damage inflicted on that day launched us into a long fought war where even more lives were lost for no reason as that of trying to destroy the jihadist terrorists so they could never cause any type of harm to anyone else ever again. One of the only bright sides of the situation was that it brought our country together, even if only for a short time.

Yes, going into a country and killing innocent people who had nothing to do with a tragedy is not the way to settle the score. But that was the only probable way that the U.S. gov't saw it. Unfortunately, the cause of terrorism against the U.S. is orchestrated by dozens of groups. Killing just one person or group is NOT going to stop terrorism as a whole. Saying that, the U.S. will be fighting for years to come until the terrorist gain common sense and stop their evil ways.
